Oswald Rendon-herrero, P.E. Ph.D.
I am a civil engineer in Starkville, MS, where I specialize in failure analysis of building foundations and other soil-related infrastructure and reconstruction of construction accidents (i.e. geoforensics). I have about 30 years of experience providing litigation support and expert witness testimony in Mississippi. I have worked on over 50 cases with attorneys in Mississippi. I have inspected and written engineering reports on over 800 constructed facilities for insurance companies and other clients. They include commercial and residential structures and transportation infrastructure (e.g. pavements and embankments). Common failure modes include settlement, sliding, and heaving of soils and cracking of diverse structural elements. My evaluations include the origin, cause, and responsibility for damages to constructed facilities. In the attachment (*) below, I provide my definition of what geoforensics involves, including some common causes for failure of constructed facilities. Also attached below is a brief summary of my qualifications, a brief biography, and my activities in the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). In 2004, I retired from teaching geotechnical engineering and construction materials at Mississippi State University (1976 2004). At my retirement, I was awarded the title of Emeritus Professor in civil engineering. I am currently licensed in Mississippi (since about 1975). My licenses in New York (1967), Puerto Rico, and Tennessee are currently passive; I havent worked in those locations for many years. If required, I can reinstate my licenses in those states. I can also obtain licenses in most states by reciprocity.
