Dr. Steven Williams is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and Vitreoretinal Surgeon. He is the founder and managing partner of a busy vitreoretinal surgical practice with over 20 years of clinical experience. He provides patient care and resident training at the nearby Upstate Medical University Ophthalmology Residency Program.

Dr. Williams is an expert in complex eye diseases including; vitreoretinal diseases, ocular surgery, management of surgical complications, glaucoma, uveitis, ocular oncology, ocular infections, and optic nerve disorders. He lectures on these subjects to ophthalmology residents, as well as other eye care providers. He also has served as a Trustee at St. Elizabeth Medical Center providing quality assurance and medical performance oversight.

Steven Williams is a graduate of Binghamton University, where he earned a physics degree with highest honors. After completing medical school at the Medical College of Virginia, he was a surgical intern at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY. He completed specialty training in ophthalmology at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, Baltimore, MD. During his final year he served as Chief Resident and received the Outstanding Resident Award. Dr. Williams performed his vitreoretinal subspecialty training in Virginia Beach. Dr. Williams is a contributing author to a chapter in the text Macular Surgery and Vitreoretinal Surgical Techniques. Upstate Medical University has named Dr. Williams Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology. Dr. Williams created Mohawk Valley Retina to provide the highest quality subspecialty care to his hometown community.
