He is a recently retired licensed PhD materials engineer with over 40 years of experience in performing failure analyses and identifying the root cause. Areas of expertise include refinery chemical and petrochemical failures. He is a Fellow of ASM and ASTM and a board member of the Failure Analysis Society with over 60 technical publications.

Expert's Profile

He has conducted and/or directed a substantial number of in-house metallurgical/materials analyses with the objective of identifying the root cause and determining an appropriate resolution of the problem. His experience includes materials R&D, product development and testing, manufacturing process development, quality assurance, product failure analyses of ferrous, non-ferrous, and plastic products and catalyst development. He has conducted or led materials evaluations for new proprietary processes in order to identify the appropriate material of construction.
As the internal metallurgical expert, he has assisted counsel by providing technical direction for litigation and patent defenses. He has also evaluated the plaintiff's technical data and presentations and provided insight into their strategy and potential weaknesses of their arguments. He has testified as an expert witness in an arbitration.

In addition to his expertise in refinery, chemical and petrochemical failure analyses, he is also expert in metallurgy, materials engineering, corrosion, analytical testing, nano-materials, and electron microscopy. He has over 60 technical publications, 16 patents, presented at a substantial number of technical meetings, and organized over 15 technical symposia.
