Expert's Profile

Vincent N. Campisi, P.E., has over 50 years of experience in the management, design, inspection and rehabilitation of fixed and movable highway bridges and railroad bridges. His experience is most extensive in the eastern United States, but it also extends to other regions throughout the United States and overseas. Mr. Campisi has written several articles on bridge design and construction throughout his career and is considered a national expert on the subject. Mr. Campisi has also provided forensic engineering analysis and expert witness services for more than 50 cases involving structural failure investigations, claims regarding design errors and omissions, delays, and construction accidents resulting in injuries and fatalities.

In addition to his experience as a consulting engineer, Mr. Campisi was an adjunct faculty member at Bergen Community College teaching courses on Construction Estimating and Project Management. He also served as a Municipal Engineer, Chairman of the Joint Bridge Commission for the Movable Bridges over the Passaic River and as a County Engineer and Director of Public Works in New Jersey. Prior to forming his own firm in February of 2012, Mr. Campisi was a Partner and the Chief Engineer of the Transportation Structures Division at CHA (Clough, Harbour & Associates) LLP, Albany, New York. Currently, he is the Principal/Owner of Vincent N. Campisi, P.E., Consulting Engineers, LLC.

Some of Mr. Campisi’s more significant projects included the design of the widening of the Driscoll Bridge from ten to twelve lanes including design of the North and South approach roadways and toll facilities; Design of the seventh reversible lane on the Tappan Zee Bridge; Design of the replacement Troy Green Island Lift Bridge over the Hudson River; Design of the widening and replacement of the High Level Gowanus Canal Crossing on I-287; Corridor Manager for a major study assessing the feasibility of a new crossing to replace the Tappan Zee Bridge over the Hudson River in New York State. The Tappan Zee project included the design of five miles of highway approaches, 14 bridges and 70 miles of rail corridor on new and partially existing rail corridors. Mr. Campisi was also the Project Manager for the study and preliminary design of the replacement or rehabilitation of the northeast corridor movable railroad bridge over the Mianus River in Cos Cob Connecticut.
