Dr. Rahul Surana is a Director with Navigant. He holds a PhD in chemical engineering from Penn State University, an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University Department of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, India. Dr. Surana is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charter holder, and also holds CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst), FRM (Financial Risk Manager) and ERP (Energy Risk Professional) certifications.
Dr. Surana is an expert in securities investments, valuation of intellectual property, and semiconductor technology. He has provided expert testimony in US court as well as at the International Arbitration court. He has submitted expert reports and analysis in litigation and non-litigation matters. He has conducted complex financial analyses related to capital markets, securities transactions (including equities, fixed income, derivatives, commodities and structured products).
Dr. Suranas CFA and CAIA designation has provided him with tools and knowhow to value business, including intangibles such as intellectual property, equity interest, minority share, etc
Dr. Surana holds Energy Risk Professional Certification (ERP) and has consulted on investment in energy-related projects. He has implemented valuation techniques including discounted cash flow, market based approach using earnings multiples.
Dr. Surana is a FIRNA arbitrator and sits on a panel of judges to hear disputes between investors and securities firms. FINRA is the largest independent regulator of securities firms in the United States. As an arbitrator he hears all sides of the issues as presented by parties, studies evidence, and then provides his decision on how the matter should be resolved.
