Addison Medical Center Addison, MI - Physician Assistant - Family Practice 1975 to 1979
Employed by solo family practitioner in a rural area of Michigan. Office located in the twenty four bed community hospital. Responsibilities included all areas of patient management in the office, emergency room and hospital. Duties consisted of performing complete histories and physical examinations, first assisting in the surgical suite, dictation of discharge summaries, patient rounds, writing progress notes, ordering consultations and the prescribing of appropriate treatment. Physician back up on site and by phone.
 
Rose City Family Practice Jackson, MI - Physician Assistant - Family Practice 1979 to Present
Responsible for the evaluation and management of patients from infancy to geriatrics including complete histories and physical examinations, the ordering of appropriate laboratory and radiographic examinations, minor office surgeries, colposcopies and cardiac stress testing. Complete laboratory and X-ray facilities on site. Duties are divided between two clinics one in Addison, MI and the other in Jackson, MI. Physician available on site.
 
Addison Medical Associates Addison, MI - Physician Assistant - Emergency Medicine 1987 to 1991
Employed part time in the evenings and weekends providing coverage as an independent contractor hired to staff the Addison Community Hospital Emergency Room and Urgent Care Center, also provided first call for the Emergency Room from home between 9:00 pm and 6:00 am. Responsible for the evaluation and management of all patients presenting for treatment as well as the preliminary interpretation of X-rays, electrocardiograms and laboratory tests as well as the evaluation and stabilization of trauma patients, cardiopulmonary arrest and other life threatening events until physician arrival. Coordinated patient transport by Life Flight Helicopter to referral centers. Physician back up available by phone.
 
MediStation of Jackson Jackson, MI - Physician Assistant - Urgent Care 1988 to Present -
Employed part time in the evenings in an urgent care center. Responsible for the evaluation and management of patients presenting for treatment of minor and emergent conditions. Clinic treats approximately ninety patients daily and is equiped with on site laboratory and X-ray facilities. Physician back up available by phone.
 
Placement Associates, Ltd. Cement City, Michigan - President - Chief Executive Officer 1991 to Present
President, Chief Executive Officer and Owner of a placement firm that deals exclusively with the placement of physician assistants and nurse practitioners nationwide. Responsibilities include the recruitment of qualified candidates, reference evaluations, licensure and certification verifications, the coordination of site visits between candidates and clients as well as contract negotiations. Administrative duties include the coordination of activities between the corporate owned offices located in Michigan, Texas and Georgia, the financial management of the corporation as well as the development of future business expansion. Assist other affiliated placement firms by providing information on the physician assistant profession, specific state practice laws, salary demographics and other questions they may have concerning the profession and its scope of practice. Placement of approximately thirty five candidates nationwide on a yearly basis.
Dwane Waters Hospital Jackson, Michigan - Correctional Emergency Medicine - 1997 to Present
Employed part time as an independent contractor to staff the Emergency Room/Urgent Care Clinic for Southern Michigan Prison with a population of 1,400 inmates. Responsible for the evaluation and management of prisioners presenting for emergent as well as minor illnesses, including trauma, cardiac events, respiratory distress, AIDS related illnesses, diabetics, etc. Coordinate patient admissions and transfers to other facilities as indicated. Also responsible for the triage of calls from nursing staff and correctional officers at the remaining prisons housing the additional 47,000 inmates in the Michigan prison system to determine the urgent nature of the inmates complaint and its appropriate disposition. Physician back up available by phone.
